Artist statement

As an artist I am still finding myself however through previous works and experimentation I have found the genre of portraiture, audio and installation are what works best for me. I am interested in themes of family, relationship between generations and mental health.

Combining these, much as I have in this work: using concepts deep and meaningful to me is what captivates me as an artist. I find working with these themes sparks a passion inside me and helps me release emotion in a positive way. I have taken inspiration from artists such as Tracey Emin and Mary Kelly who have worked in similar themes.

I want my audience to feel something and spark an emotion in them when they look at my work, I know this has been successful because.I have had comments from lecturers and peers saying how they have felt moved and in touch with my work.. It is important to me to enjoy working in concepts which are personal to me and what is going on in my life at that present moment.
