Artist statement

I have always enjoyed photographing ‘details’ in nature. However, recently I have become more interested in Impressionist Photography where the images blur the lines between photography and painting.

Here I wanted the photographs to reflect my journey away from representational photography towards more abstract images.

To create these images, I used some of the key techniques from this genre including: multiple exposures in camera; Pep Ventosa’s ‘In the Round Technique’ which involves taking photographs walking round a subject and then blending these together in Photoshop; multiple exposure combined with intentional camera movement (ICM) in camera; single shot ICM

The reason that I really enjoy this type of photography is the much needed opportunity to ‘play’ without pressure or expectation. The results are always a surprise and unique as you will never be able to replicate it again in the future.
