My work explores the relationship between the decommissioned Kinneil Colliery in Bo'ness and the Nature Reserve which now inhabits this site. The area was famous for coal mining from the 1890's until 1982 when the mine was closed. My work shows the history of the mine and how, now after its closure, nature has taken over the landscape. The fundamental purpose of the site has now changed, with nature reclaiming the ground. Through my work I have used mono type and embroidery to capture the sense of the Reserve through the years. My work has focused on predominately colour and shape.
